My name is Carolina Beatriz Diaz. I was born in El Salvador, and I spent my formative years there. My family and I migrated to the U.S. when I was five years old and we have been here ever since. With the sacrifice, hard work and dedication of my parents, we were able to overcome whatever challenges or obstacles life threw our way. As an immigrant and first to graduate in my family, I am familiar with the barriers and obstacles immigrants face, which in hindsight, made my journey and accomplishments that much more valuable.
I received my Master's in Social Work and Bachelor's Degree in Administration of Justice from George Mason University. Having lived most of my life in Northern Virginia, I wanted to become a bilingual mental health therapist to offer representation and create a safe space for clients to be themselves and feel understood when it comes to their mental health.
Colibri Clinical Center is the result of an amazing personal journey combined with 15+ years of professional experience. I hold a master's in social work from George Mason University and I am currently an LCSW supervisee. I have worked professionally in a wide variety of settings to help children, youth, and families create transformation in their lives.
When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, taking care of my plants, and being outdoors. I LOVE to travel and love to eat. I LOVE a good laugh; laughter is said to trigger endorphins; the feel-good hormones.
Personally, I would describe myself as a positive, kind, and caring individual. I come from a large family (my mother is one of eleven and my father is one of thirteen+) so needless to say, there is never a dull moment in my life.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years of experience working primarily with youth and families. My passion is supporting young people as they navigate life’s unique challenges. I know how overwhelming life can feel at times and no one should go through it alone. My goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can process your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without fear of judgment. Everyone deserves to feel heard, supported, and empowered. I am here to help you find your way through whatever you are facing. As a child of immigrant parents, I understand the importance of being aware of how culture can shape ones perspective, experiences and identity.
I specialize in working with youth and young adults dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and major life transitions. I take a holistic approach to therapy seeing each person as more than their experiences. I employ Evidence Based techniques such as Trauma-focused, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I also incorporate mindfulness techniques to help clients stay present and in control of their emotions. I speak three languages: Farsi (Persian), English and Spanish.
Outside of work, I enjoy going on walks, traveling to new places, spending quality time with friends & family, sharing laughs and making memories. I am also a big coffee lover- I can’t get through my day without it and if I had to pick a favorite comfort food, it would definitely be a big, warm bowl of pho.
I earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degrees from George Mason University, where I developed the skills and knowledge to provide effective, compassionate support to individuals facing life’s difficulties. I am looking forward to learning more about your journey.
