Therapy is not only for people having major life crises. People in everyday life situations can also benefit from therapy. Childhood traumas sometimes create overpowering emotions such as anxiety, depression, and anger when left unattended. These sometimes create physical symptoms to defend our bodies from the internal wounds. Therapy is most beneficial when it is
a collaborative and transparent process. I regularly employ mindfulness and meditation in therapy. I aim to utilize a variety of actionable techniques to help reduce trauma related symptoms, help you understand your feelings, deal with life challenges, and make lasting changes in life to feel confident and hopeful about the future. I draw from a Humanistic approach which emphasizes a person’s free will and values.
I integrate evidence-based modalities such as Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic theory which examines past experiences and how they shape our current life, and Humanistic/Existential approaches to empower you to explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to foster lasting change and growth.
I’m committed to learning and growing to meet the needs of marginalized groups so that mental health is not reserved for the privileged few. Everyone deserves access to quality care. I am an LGBTQIA ally although I do not specialize in the LGBTQIA.
